Blog/Footwear News/An Introduction to R.M. Williams
R.M.Williams is one of Australia’s most famous footwear brands. With a history so rich we wrote an entire post dedicated to it, which can be found here, it’s no surprise that RM William’s brand of leather boots has grown to be one of the most popular styles of footwear in the world. This, combined with their undeniable style and quality, is why Cloggs are absolutely delighted to welcome some of RM Williams’ most popular footwear styles to our ever-expanding brand repertoire.
Founded in the 1930s, RM Williams leather boots were initially designed for explorers of the Australian Outback - their tough leather exterior and impeccable craftsmanship designed to withstand even the toughest of conditions.
The RM Williams styles stocked at Cloggs are all variations of the ever-popular Chelsea Boot. With a smooth leather upper, two elasticated side gussets and a two pull-tabs for ease of wear, these stunning leather chelsea boots are the every bit a luxury footwear item, resting on a goodyear welted sole for durability and longevity.
The R.M. Williams ‘Turnout’ is constructed from a single piece of Yearling leather. Undergoing over 70 handheld processes per individual boot, the unique design ensures there is only one seam at the back of the boot, providing a flawless and truly remarkable finish.
The ‘Turnout’ has a smooth, leather upper, leather inner sole and leather sole too. The welt stitching is constructed from hot wax dipped thread for extra durability and strength.

The Craftsman is without a doubt R.M. Williams’ most signature style of boot. Available in both leather and suede, the Craftsman is once again constructed from a single piece of Yearling leather, offering only one seam at the back of the boot.
With two pull tabs - one at the front and one at the back of the boot, as well as two elasticated gussets, the Craftsman is designed to provide the perfect fit. The goodyear welted stitching is dipped in hot wax for added durability and longevity.

The ‘Gardener’ has a similar Chelsea boot last to the previously listed R.M. Williams styles, but the leather is Greasy Kip as opposed to Yearling, providing a more rugged and rough finish which is truly stunning.
Crafted in a similar manner, from one individual piece of leather with only one seam at the back, the Gardener is also goodyear welted, with the stitches dipped in hot wax for an even more durable finish.
