When it comes to wellies, you’ll be pushed to find a brand as popular and on trend as Hunter. Hunter wellies have dominated the fashion stakes for quite some time, and can be seen on the feet of thousands when the weather takes a turn for the worse. The designated festival welly, Hunter boots are just as fashionable as they are practical - and that’s just one of the reasons why they’re undoubtedly one of the most loved welly brands.
With so many iconic styles in the impressive Hunter range, we thought we’d put together a style guide for you, highlighting the difference between some of the key hunter wellies.
For: Men & women
Style: Tall wellington boot
Extras: Hunter logo front & centre
Shop Original Tall
The style that made Hunter an institution and still a perennial favourite for everyone from festival goers to the country gentry. The famous rounded toe box has come to define what we think of as the classic welly design, while the side buckle offers the perfect fit every time. As well as coming in the classic matte colours, we also offer the Original Tall in glossy rubber, in extra slim fittings, and in a variation that includes an elasticated gusset on the back for extra adjustability.
Style: Short wellington boot
Shop Original Short
As the name suggests, the Original Short is a smaller version of Hunter’s iconic Original Tall. Despite the size difference, they still offer the same outsole and high quality rubber upper which effortlessly repels water. The shorter shaft length makes these slightly more stylistically versatile, which is perfect for anyone not looking to compromise on their usual style when it’s wet outside. Like the Original Tall, the Short is available in a range of colours and finishes.
Style: Rubber Chelsea Boot
Shop Hunter Chelsea Wellies
The third of our popular twists on the classic Original Tall theme, the Original Chelsea is a hybrid of two classic British styles. Wellies, by now, need very little introduction. Chelsea boots are an androgynous staple of many a wardrobe, and the idea to combine them and thus keep sartorialists in their favourite style of boots the year round was an absolute masterstroke. We’ve written a guide on the style here.
Style: Rubber Ankle Boot
Extras: Laces and Hunter logo on the back
Shop Hunter Lace Up Wellies
Taking the classic ankle boot and giving it the Hunter welly treatment, the Original Lace Up is perfect for anyone seeking a genuinely waterproof boot that’s also on-trend and rugged. The Original Lace Up features the same slight heel and deep lug pattern found on the Original Tall and Original Short, but has been equipped with a textured rubber toe cap and vamp detailing to offer some extra toughness, both aesthetically and practically speaking.
Style: Rubber Wellies
Extras: Hunter logo front and centre
Shop Hunter Gloss Wellies
Though technically not a style in itself, many of the Hunter styles are available in a high-gloss finish. This shiny alternative to the smooth, matte options is incredibly popular, and looks particularly exciting in a range of colours!
Style: Heeled Ankle Boots
Shop Hunter Block Heel Wellies
Arguably the most fashion-forward style of the bunch, the Hunter Block Heel stormed into our range this year in a variety of colours. Taking festival fashion to the next level, these waterproof block heels are stylish and comfortable at the same time.
